Interparfums SA has bought the Goutal fragrance brand from Amorepacific Europe as it continues to bolster its scent portfolio.
The subsidiary of New York-based Interparfums Inc has acquired all the worldwide intellectual property rights relating to Maison Goutal, held by Amorepacific Europe, for an undisclosed sum.
Annick Goutal created her eponymous high-end niche fragrance brand in 1981 and annual sales are alleged to have reached between US$10m to $12m “in the past”, reported a joint statement from Interparfums SA and Amorepacific Europe.
This acquisition news comes hot on the heels of Interparfums SA also extending its fragrance partnership with fashion house Coach for a further five years as it continues to cement its position as a leading perfume player.
Amorepacific Europe will continue to operate the Goutal Brand under a licence agreement for a set duration.
Interparfums SA will then develop the brand from 2026 onwards, together with its licensee.
“The acquisition of the Goutal brand reflects our strategy of broadening our product offering to include high-end fragrances,” said Jean Madar, Chairman and CEO of Interparfums.
“This brand, known for iconic lines such as L’Eau d’Hadrien and Petite Chérie, has substantial potential in this highly dynamic segment.
“Intent on safeguarding the legacy of the company her mother [Annick Goutal] created and perpetuating the brand’s values, Camille Goutal will remain involved in fragrance choices.”
To extend its reach even further, Interparfums is also preparing to launch a private-label perfume collection this year named Solférino.
The proprietary brand will comprise a collection of ten fragrances targeted at the niche fragrance market.
Interparfums has also been extending its fragrance licences over the past year, signing a 15-year perfume deal with Lacoste and obtaining the fragrance and cosmetic brand names of luxury streetwear brand Off-White.
